Jimmy Carl Harris enlisted in the Marines after graduating from high school and worked his way up to the rank of Sergeant Major. During those years, he fought in two wars and earned two degrees from Chapman College. Upon retirement from the military, he completed a doctorate at the University of Alabama. While an Assistant Professor at Southeastern Louisiana University, he authored articles for professional journals. Now retired from academia, he writes fiction full-time. He currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama.
